Welcome back to Term 3. We have lots planned for this exciting term. In 5 weeks time, we are holding our own mini 'Turaki Olympics'. The whole school are researching different countries that will be at the Olympics and creating either a game to play in our mini Olympics or a skit/song/speech/dance to perform at our opening ceremony.
This week, our class is looking at our selected Countries and thinking about a costume to wear to the opening ceremony and thinking of different games to create to submit for selection in the games.
We have also started to view and critique the effective features of a speech in preparation for our school speech competition.
Technology started today with sewing and hard materials. A busy term ahead.

Week 9 - Speed Scrabble Time
Once again we are trialling something different in Room M. This week it was Speed Scrabble. Students start with 7 tiles and once they have created a crossword and words using the 7 tiles they tap the table twice and each student is to pick up another two tiles. This continues until there are no tiles left and then it is the first person to use all their tiles correctly in a crossword.

Where has the term gone!!!
It is hard to believe that we have just finished Week 7 of Term 1 and that Easter is just around the corner.
Swimming is now all over. We had our Turaki Swimming Sports last week and today a team of swimmers represented Turaki School at the Interschool Swimming Sports. 14 students went from Room M - congratulations to all of you!!
We are well into our class routines. Students are planning their own day from their Learning Schedules and the teachers' plan. There should be some PROVE IT videos popping up on students' blogs next week sharing some of their learning around their Maths goals.
Students are getting better at descriptive writing and we are keen to share some of these so look out for these too.
Brie won the 'AROHA Spin and Win' at assembly this week and won a lunchtime swim for the whole class.

Week 4 done and dusted
Our swimming sports day is getting close and room m students have prepared well for these.
This week saw the first of our immunity beads given out. Immunity beads in room m can be given out by the teachers for outstanding behaviour throughout a whole day or are received when students receive an AROHA trading card from our AROHA award system. Immunity beads allows a student to 'opt out' of a workshop, learning block or activity if they are not feeling like doing it. BUT don't worry, the students know that they must catch up on their missed work later on (they can't just not do the work).
On Friday Miss Turner and a group of students, parent helpers did the Taumarunui Shears fundraiser across the round at the Athletic Stadium. Thank you to Miss Turner who put so much time into organising this and to all the students and whanau that helped out. All the funds raised will go towards the Team 1 camps at the end of the year.
Finally, our top Classcraft student this week is..........once again

Goals are set!!!
We are really getting into the swing of things now. All of our students have set their goals based on the reading, writing and maths learning progressions. It was great to see the students finding the next steps in their learning.
Students are planning their days and attending workshops already. We are looking forward to getting the student blogs up and running and then you will be able to have a look at what the individual students are doing.
Highlight for the Week 3 - Classcraft.
It has been a real hit and students are working hard to level up, and some are finding that they are losing HP and are almost falling in battle.
Top Classcraft student at the end of week 3 is Jasmin, followed closely by Nicole, both from the Super Sayans. Well done ladies - at Level 3 already.
