Today, to get us thinking about science for our science fair next term, we completed a Science board to help us to think like a SCIENTIST. This is a Padlet of our first questions based on making OBSERVATIONS of a series of images related to Ocean circles
We explored a a variety of vocab meanings
Then after reading an article, we jotted down any questions we had about the ocean circles...we recorded these into another Padlet
Next we are going to choose 1 question to find the answer to in the next session

Week 11: Democratic process in the Clan
As the term draws to an end, we have surveyed our learners to find out how they have found working together as one class. We used Google forms to collect student voice.
Spurned on by the data, we asked learners to come up with some ideas for our classroom layout to reduce the crowded atmosphere and the noise.
Learners came up with a variety of classroom layouts.......then they voted on the layouts they liked the best.
Now we are going to use their ideas to plan out the classroom ........Watch this space

Week 11: Loopy Maths
We have been using maths games to help practise our basic facts. Check out this short clip of a team of mathematicians playing Loopy Maths.
It was great to see students thinking about their answers and supporting each other to find the correct answer. Collaboration was present in bucket loads.

Week 9: Skype, Skype, Skype.......
#Skype...
Over the last 4 weeks we have been using Skype as a whole class message system. As teachers, we give out notices, alert kids to upcoming workshops, provide positive reinforcements and reminders. It is a great way to use non verbal communication with our clan. The concept came about because our class found our space loud and noisy so we looked for a way to reduce the amount of teacher chat. It has been an awesome way to communicate with 52 students.
The class has also been practising their digital citizenship skills and using our group for learning conversations....it has been great to see so many students taking ownership of our group and role modelling positive conversations..
"The teachers don't need to yell out notices for us. We get them on Skype. It just pops up on our screens....I like it" Shaquita Year 8
"It helps me with my learning a little bit because it keeps us on task. Miss L and Miss T tell us when our groups are so I know when I have to go to group.." Hamish W Year 7
